▶️ Create a privacy compliance banner

1. Prepare Your Tracking Scripts

  • Before setting up your banner, ensure that you have any required tracking scripts ready:

    • Example: Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, etc.
  • In StoreConnect:

    • Go to StoreConnect NavigationCustom ContentScript Blocks.

    • Here, you can create Script Blocks to hold your tracking scripts.

    • (Detailed instructions for creating Script Blocks are covered in another video).


2. Create Compliance Groups

  • Go to:

    • StoreConnect NavigationConfigurationAdvancedCompliance Groups.
  • Click New to create your first Compliance Group.

  • Example groups:

    • Strictly Necessary:

      • Description: What this group is for.

      • Active: Checked.

      • Required: Checked (users cannot opt out of these cookies).

      • Assign to your Store.

      • Position: 1.

    • Analytics:

      • Description: What this group is for (e.g. site tracking).

      • Active: Checked.

      • Required: Unchecked (users can opt in or out).

      • Assign to your Store.

  • Click Save and New to quickly add multiple groups.

  • Result: You should now have at least two groups (Strictly Necessary, Analytics).


3. Add Cookies to Compliance Groups

  • Go to:

    • StoreConnect NavigationConfigurationAdvancedCookies.
  • Click New to create each Cookie.

  • For each Cookie:

    • Enter a Name.

    • Provide a Description.

    • Active: Checked.

    • Select the appropriate Compliance Group (created in Step 2).

    • Select the associated Script Block.

  • Example cookies:

    • Required Cookie → assigned to Strictly Necessary.

    • Analytics Cookie → assigned to Analytics.

    • Referrals Cookie → assigned to Analytics.

  • After adding each cookie, click Save and New to continue adding more.


4. Enable the Privacy Compliance Banner

  • Go to:

    • StoreConnect NavigationStoresAll Stores.
  • Open your Store Record.

  • Go to ContentPrivacy → click Edit.

  • Configure the Privacy Banner:

    • Enable Privacy Compliance → Checked.

    • Add Primary Banner Text (text displayed on the banner itself).

    • Add Secondary Settings Page Text (text shown when user clicks "Manage Cookies").

  • Click Save.


5. Verify and Test the Banner

  • Visit your Store’s website.

  • Refresh the page:

    • You should see the Privacy Compliance Banner appear.

    • Options available:

      • Accept All.

      • Reject All.

      • Manage Cookies.

  • Click Manage Cookies:

    • You will see the Compliance Groups listed (Strictly Necessary, Analytics).

    • Inside each group:

      • View the Group Name and Description.

      • View the Cookies assigned to that group:

        • Required Cookies → pre-enabled and cannot be disabled.

        • Optional Cookies → can be toggled On/Off by the user.

  • After saving settings, the banner will disappear and the choices will be respected.
