1. Understand What Product Variants Are
Product variants allow you to offer multiple versions of the same product, differing by features such as:
Color (e.g., blue or orange hoodie)
Size
Shape
Material
Any other custom attribute
These variants are linked to a master product but are treated as individual items for pricing, images, inventory, etc.
2. Start With the Master Product
In Salesforce, open the StoreConnect App.
Go to StoreConnect Navigation > Products > All Products.
Select the product you want to base your variants on (e.g., Steve Plushy).
If it doesn’t already exist, create a new product and ensure:
It's marked as Active.
It's marked as a Master Product (this will become unpurchasable once variants are added).
3. Create a Variant (e.g., Blue Hoodie Version)
Click the Clone button on the master product to save time.
In the cloned product:
Update the Product Name and Display Name (e.g., Steve Plushy - Blue Hoodie).
Uncheck the “Master” box (variants must not be marked as master).
Adjust the description, image, and any other relevant data.
Mark as Active.
Click Save.
Repeat this step for each variant (e.g., Orange Hoodie).
4. Set the Price for Each Variant
Go to the Price Books section.
Add or update the price (e.g., $25).
Click Save.
Click Sync Price Changes for immediate update.
5. Assign Categories and Media
Under Categories Containing This Product, click New, select a category (e.g., Toys), and Save.
Scroll to Media Used by This Product:
Click New to assign an image (e.g., blue hoodie).
You can upload or select from existing media.
6. Link Variant to the Master Product
In the variant product record, scroll to Master Products and click New.
Choose the original master product (e.g., Steve Plushy).
Set the:
Variant Type: e.g., Color (you can also create custom types).
Variant Value: e.g., Blue.
Click Save.
Be sure to create variants for all versions, including the original (e.g., make Steve Plushy - Orange Hoodie its own variant and link it too).
7. Confirm on the Website
Go to your StoreConnect storefront.
Navigate to the Master Product page (e.g., Steve Plushy).
You will now see a variant selector (e.g., a dropdown or buttons for Blue and Orange).
When a customer selects a variant, the page dynamically updates:
- Shows the selected variant’s image, price, description, and buy options.
