If an order includes items from multiple stock locations, separate shipment records are generated for each location. You can split shipments for backorders or by customer request and re-assign items to different shipments.
Split a shipment
There are reasons you may need to split the shipping of an order. Some items might be on backorder and will be shipped later, or a customer might request half their order be shipped by air and the rest by road. Here's how you can split a shipment.

Move items from the original order
- Find the original shipment and open the record.
- In the Related tab, Order Items section, edit the item that you want to move to the new shipment.
- Enter the new Shipment Number that you created above, in the item record.
- Select Save. The items is now moved to the new shipment record.
