# Cart Promotion 2 Object Reference

Cart Promotion 2 records link a [Promotion 2](promotion2-object-reference) to a shopping cart. A record is created for each promotion applied to a cart — whether the customer entered a coupon code or the promotion was applied automatically — and it captures the coupon code used and the discount the promotion produced.
