Using different price books, you can manage different pricing strategies for various customer groups (e.g. wholesale, retail, online), regions, or sales channels, ensuring accurate quotes and streamlined sales by separating products from their varying list prices (e.g., standard vs. discount). Every Salesforce org comes with a standard price book (base prices) from which you can create multiple custom price books for customer segments.\n\n## The standard price book\n\nThe standard price book is the 'master' list of your product pricing. It serves as the universal one-size-fits-all pricing foundation, from which you create other custom price books. When you set up your first store, you need to enable a Salesforce standard price book in StoreConnect. \n\n## Custom price books\n\nCustom price books enable you to set alternative prices for different customer groups or regions. However, every item in a custom price book must also exist in the standard price book. This is a Salesforce requirement. More information about [configuring price books](product-pricing).\n\n## Activate a price book in Salesforce\n\nWhatever price book you use for a store, it must be active in Salesforce.\n\n1.  In Salesforce, open the price book, e.g. the **Standard Price Book** object. \n2.  Make sure the **Active** option is selected.\n3.  Click **Save**.\n\n## Select the price book for your store\n\nYou may have already done this during the initial store setup.\n\n1.  In StoreConnect, open your store record.\n2.  In the **Products \u003e Pricing** section, select a price book, e.g. the standard price book.\n3.  Select **Save**."}
