What Are Traits in StoreConnect?**\n\n**Traits** are specifications or attributes that describe features of a product.\n\nThey serve two main purposes:\n\n-   **Display on Product Pages**: Show detailed specifications like size, material, weight, etc.\n\n-   **Enable Filtered Search**: Allow customers to narrow down product results using filters (e.g., only show products made of \"Fluff\").\n\n\n---\n\n### **2\\. Access the Trait Settings**\n\n-   Open **Salesforce** and go into the **StoreConnect Config App** (launch it via the App Launcher).\n\n-   Open the **main menu** in the app, and scroll down to find the **three trait components**:\n\n    1.  **Trait Categories**\n\n    2.  **Trait Types**\n\n    3.  **Trait Values**\n\n\nYou can also find traits via the **StoreConnect Navigation** in the bottom right corner.\n\n---\n\n### **3\\. Create a Trait Category**\n\n-   Go to **Trait Categories** and click **New**.\n\n-   Fill in:\n\n    -   **Name**: (e.g., *General Information*)\n\n    -   **Display Name**: (if you want customers to see a different name for the category)\n\n    -   **Position**: Use increments (e.g., 10, 20, 30) to make reordering easier later. Lower numbers appear first in the position order.\n\n-   Click **Save**.\n\n\n---\n\n### **4\\. Create a Trait Type**\n\n-   Go to **Trait Types** and click **New**.\n\n-   Fill in:\n\n    -   **Category**: Choose the one you just created.\n\n    -   **Name** and **Display Name** (e.g., *Material*).\n\n    -   **Value Type**: Choose the data format (Text, Number, Currency, Checkbox, etc.).\n\n    -   Optional: Select a **unit of measurement** if needed.\n\n    -   **Position**: Again, use spaced numbers (e.g., 10, 20).\n\n    -   Check:\n\n        -   **Display on Product Page**\n\n        -   **Use as Search Filter**\n\n-   Click **Save**.\n\n\n---\n\n### **5\\. Add a Trait Value**\n\n-   Go to **Trait Values** and click **New**.\n\n-   Select the **Trait Type** (e.g., *Material*).\n\n-   Enter the **Value** (e.g., *Fluff*).\n\n-   Click **Save**.\n\n\n---\n\n### **6\\. Assign the Trait to a Product**\n\n-   Go to the **Traits** menu (top-level menu option in the config app).\n\n-   Click **New**.\n\n-   Select:\n\n    -   The **Trait Type** you created (e.g., *Material*).\n\n    -   The **Product** to assign it to (e.g., *Steve Plushy*).\n\n-   Click **Save**.\n\n\n---\n\n### **Optional: Bulk Upload**\n\n-   Traits can also be **mass-imported** using a data import tool if you're handling large numbers of products.\n\n\n---\n\n### **7\\. View Results on the Website**\n\n-   Go to the **product page** and refresh it.\n\n    -   You will see a **Specifications Block** showing the trait (e.g., *Material: Fluff*).\n\n-   Go to your **product catalog search view**.\n\n    -   The trait will appear as a **search filter** to help customers narrow down their options."}
