### **1\. What is Route Mapping?**

- **Route Mapping** allows you to create **URL redirects** in StoreConnect:

    - Useful when **changing URL slugs** for pages/products/articles.

    - Essential for **migrating an old website** to StoreConnect (preserve SEO & existing links).

---

### **2\. Change a URL Slug (Triggers Route Mapping)**

1. Go to the **backend** and search for your desired **Product / Page / Article**.

2. Click **Edit**.

3. Scroll to the **SEO** section.

4. Update the **Slug** field (URL slug).

5. Click **Save**.

StoreConnect will **automatically create a Route Mapping**:

- Previous URL → New URL

- This ensures old links still work and SEO value is preserved.

---

### **3\. Verify Route Mapping**

1. Navigate to:
**StoreConnect Navigation → Configuration → Advanced → Route Mapping**.

2. You’ll see a new **Route Mapping record** created automatically.

3. Click to open the record:

    - Shows **Old URL** and **New URL**.

    - Shows the **Type of redirect**:

        - **301 Permanent** (default — forwards SEO data).

        - **302 Temporary** (does not forward SEO data).

        - **Rewrite** (changes content without visible redirect).

---

### **4\. Manually Manage Route Mappings**

- You can manually create Route Mappings here too:

    - For **products, categories, articles, pages**, etc.

    - Useful when **migrating from an old site** to StoreConnect.

---

### **5\. Troubleshooting URL Conflicts**

- **Important tip**:
If you get an error saying a URL slug is **already in use**, but you can’t find where:

    - Check the **Route Mapping records**.

    - You may find **old/unused mappings** still present.

    - Simply **delete** any no longer needed to free up the slug.

---

### **Summary**

- Changing a **slug** → automatically creates a redirect.

- Manage & view redirects in **Advanced → Route Mapping**.

- Control **redirect type** (Permanent, Temporary, Rewrite).

- Clean up old mappings to avoid slug conflicts.

- Essential tool for **SEO-friendly URL management** and **site migrations**.
