You can split shipments for backorders or by customer request and re-assign items to different shipments.\n\n## Split a shipment\n\nThere are reasons you may need to split the shipping of an order. Some items might be on backorder and will be shipped later, or a customer might request half their order be shipped by air and the rest by road. Here's how you can split a shipment.\n\n### Create the new shipment\n\n1.  Open the **Shipments** list in StoreConnect.\n2.  Click **New** to add a new shipment.\n3.  Associate the shipment with an order and a store. \n4.  Enter the shipping provider details.\n5.  Select **Save**. Note the **Shipment Number**.\n\n### Move items from the original order\n\n1.  Find the original shipment and open the record.\n2.  In the **Related** tab, **Order Items** section, edit the item that you want to move to the new shipment.\n3.  Enter the new Shipment Number that you created above, in the item record.\n4.  Select **Save**. The items is now moved to the new shipment record.\n\n## Manually add shipping details to an order\n\n1.  Open the **Shipments** list in StoreConnect.\n2.  Click **New** to add a new shipment.\n3.  Associate the shipment with the customer order and your store. \n4.  Select a **Shipping Status**, e.g. **Ready to ship**.\n5.  Enter the shipping provider details.\n6.  Select **Save**.\n\nYou may need to also notify the shipping provider of the order."}
