What is a price book?
A Salesforce price book is a catalog of products with their associated prices. Using different price books, you can manage different pricing strategies for various customer groups (e.g. wholesale, retail, online), regions, or sales channels, ensuring accurate quotes and streamlined sales by separating products from their varying list prices (e.g., standard vs. discount). Every Salesforce org comes with a standard price book (base prices) from which you can create multiple custom price books for customer segments.
The standard price book
The standard price book is the 'master' list of your product pricing. It serves as the universal one-size-fits-all pricing foundation, from which you create other custom price books. When you set up your first store, you need to enable a Salesforce standard price book in StoreConnect.
Custom price books
Custom price books enable you to set alternative prices for different customer groups or regions. However, every item in a custom price book must also exist in the standard price book. This is a Salesforce requirement. More information about configuring price books.
