▶️ Create content blocks

1. What Are Content Blocks?
-
Content blocks are the building blocks used to visually assemble pages on your StoreConnect website.
-
Each page is made up of one or more content blocks (e.g. banners, images, featured products, forms).
-
Blocks can be:
-
Standalone (e.g. a banner or a form).
-
Containers that hold child content blocks (used for layout control).
-
2. View Existing Content Blocks on a Page
-
In Salesforce, open the StoreConnect app.
-
Go to:
- StoreConnect Navigation → Custom Content → Pages List View.
-
Open a page record (e.g. Homepage).
-
On the left: you’ll see basic page info.
-
On the right under Related, you’ll see the list of content blocks for that page.
- Example: “Banner” (Position 10), “Homepage Container” (Position 20).
-
Lower Position numbers appear higher on the page.
3. How a Content Block Is Structured
Open any content block (e.g. Homepage Banner) to configure:
-
Content Template: Defines the layout and visual style (e.g. Image with Text Overlay, Featured Products).
-
Settings Tab:
- Control things like text alignment, link labels, and button links.
-
Media Tab:
- Select an image from your media library.
-
Content Tab:
- Add a Title, Subtitle, and any text content.
Reusable Blocks: You can assign a content block to multiple pages by linking it in their respective page records.
4. Using Containers and Child Blocks
-
A Container content block:
-
Adds structure, padding, and spacing.
-
Holds Child Content Blocks.
-
-
Example: Homepage Container holds a child block for Featured Products.
-
Open the container block:
-
Its template is “Container”.
-
Inside its Related tab, you’ll see child blocks (e.g. product sections, images, etc.).
-
5. Create a New Content Block Section on a Page
-
Go to your target page (e.g. About Us).
-
Under Related → Content Blocks, click New.
-
You can either:
-
Reuse an existing block, or
-
Click New Content Block to create a fresh one.
-
-
For layout consistency, begin by adding a Container Block:
-
Give it a unique name.
-
Set a higher position number to place it below existing blocks.
-
Click Save.
-
6. Add a Child Content Block Inside the Container
-
Open your new Container Block.
-
Under Related, click New Content Block.
-
In the creation form:
-
Ensure Parent is your container block.
-
Choose a Content Template (e.g. Single Image).
-
Set Name, add an Image in Media, and fill in other optional fields.
-
-
Click Save.
Now you’ve created a new section on your page containing a new image (e.g. a Brand Logos Banner).
7. Visual Styling and Themes
-
The appearance and behavior of content blocks is affected by the Store Theme.
-
Themes define margins, fonts, layout spacing, and responsive behavior.
-
You can:
-
Use default themes.
-
Create custom themes (covered in the Theme Developer Course).
-
8. When to Use Containers
-
Use containers to:
-
Add padding/margins around grouped content.
-
Maintain visual consistency across sections.
-
-
Content blocks outside containers will stretch full-width to the page edge (e.g. hero banners).
-
Blocks inside containers stay nicely centered with spacing applied.
