Park an order
On this page
Use this process to set a cart aside so you can serve another customer, then pick it up again later, on the same register or on any other register in the store.
A parked order is saved to the store, not to the register that created it. Any register in the same store can resume it, including a register at a different outlet, because a cart carries no outlet of its own. Parked orders never cross stores: a register signed in to a different store cannot see them.
One timing detail is worth knowing if you work across outlets. When a register resumes a parked order, registers at other outlets are not notified straight away and may keep showing that order as available until their next sync. StoreConnect still prevents two registers from working on the same cart (the second register is refused when it tries to open it), so the result is a refusal that arrives late, not two people editing one sale.
Parking sets a sale aside on the till. To set goods aside for a customer to collect later, use the Hold function instead. See Place items on hold at POS.
Park an order
- In the POS cart, select Manage Cart.
- In the list of options, select Park Cart.
- Confirm that you want to park the order.
The cart empties and the POS returns to the dashboard, ready for the next customer.
Resume a parked order
- At any POS register signed in to the same store, open the Carts list.
- Open the parked order.
- Select Resume cart.
The items return to the cart, where you can add to the order or take payment as normal.
If your register has no Carts item in its sidebar, the store is using a custom sidebar that leaves it out. Add it back through the sidebar action group. See POS action groups.
