Theme importer
On this page
Use the theme importer to install a theme from a .zip file, whether it came from the downloadable theme library or was built independently. Each import creates a new Theme record under the name you give it, so you can preview and test the theme before you set a store to use it. Importing the same file twice under two names gives you two independent copies, which is useful when a test store needs a theme of its own.
Before you start
Have the theme .zip ready. If it contains a templates/, assets/, or translations/ folder, each of those folders must hold at least one file. The folders are not required, but an empty one is flagged and can cause a partial or failed import.
Import a theme
-
Go to the Theme Importer.
-
Select the
.zipfile for the theme you want to import. -
Wait for the importer to validate the contents of the file.
-
Enter a Theme Name, so it is easy to identify later.
-
Complete the wizard to run the import. Keep the tab open until the import finishes.
Successfully imported components are marked green, and any errors or missing components are flagged in the result. If any files fail to import, the importer saves a CSV with the error details to your Salesforce Files and shows a View error report button. A successful import writes no file. Use Theme Preview to test the theme before you set your store to use it.
