Test your live store

On this page

Use this checklist once your store is published and customers can reach it. It confirms the live site works end to end, including taking a real payment. For the checks to complete before you publish, see prepare to launch your store.

Before you begin

  • Your store must already be live on your domain with test mode off. See set your store domain and go live.
  • Have a real credit card ready. Step 4 places a genuine order, because test mode is now off.
  • Publish and test at your quietest time of day, so you can correct any problem before many customers hit the site.

:::warning Every order you place from here on is real. It charges your card, counts toward your fees, and creates live records in Salesforce. Refund and cancel your test purchases once you are done. :::

Live site testing checklist

  1. Open your domain name in a private browser window. A private window makes sure you are seeing the live site, not a cached copy.
  2. Confirm someone else can reach the same domain from their own device.
  3. Confirm SSL is active. The address bar shows https:// before your domain, with no certificate warning.
  4. Run a purchase from beginning to end, paying with your own credit card.
  5. Confirm the order appears in Salesforce with the correct Account and Contact information.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each payment type and shipping method you offer.
  7. Refund and cancel the orders you placed.

Also check these, if you have them installed:

  • Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel tracking records your visit.
  • Live chat opens and connects.
  • Web-to-Lead forms generate a lead and redirect to a thank you page.
  • Web-to-Case forms generate a case and redirect to a thank you page.
  • If you are replacing an existing website, redirects, SEO metadata, and structured data are live. See the SEO, AEO, and inbound redirects check in prepare to launch your store.
