Orders
On this page
Customize and automate how your business processes, manages, and fulfills customer orders in StoreConnect. This section covers the cart and checkout a customer moves through, the order records that checkout creates in Salesforce, and what you do with an order once it exists.
Ways stores use orders
Different businesses configure order processes in different ways. Pick from the following use cases and link to the configuration instructions.
Retail and direct to consumer
- Put a buy button straight into a newsletter, so a subscriber lands on a checkout that already holds the product and the promotion code. See Direct to cart link.
- Record the person paying and the person receiving as two different contacts on one order. See Ship items to a third party.
- Offer wallet buttons on the product page, so a returning customer pays without filling in a form. See Express checkout.
- Report monthly on the carts that never converted, split by source and campaign. See Review carts and generate cart reports.
Trade and B2B
- Capture a company name and a purchase order number at checkout, and bill the account instead of taking payment. See Collect company details at checkout and Pay on account at checkout.
- Hide prices from the public and take quote requests, then turn the accepted quote into an order. See Enable customers to request product quotes.
- Build a cart in Salesforce with individually agreed prices and email the customer a link to pay it. See Build and send a cart to a customer.
- Allow easy re-ordering by cloning a cart from a previous purchase. See Manage multiple carts per customer.
Education, public sector, and nonprofit
- Take course applications through a form that becomes a paid order. See Custom forms.
- Put a donation button in an appeal email and let the donor choose the amount. See Variable pricing for donations and tips.
- Ask extra questions at checkout, showing or hiding them based on earlier answers. See Custom forms.
Services, hire, and subscriptions
- Take a deposit at checkout and collect the balance when the product is collected. See Accept deposits for purchases.
- Sell at one price to members and another to the public. See Memberships.
- Assign each order to the staff member who arranged it, so the sale is attributed correctly. See Link a staff member to an order.
Selling on more than one channel
- Trade online and in person, and have both produce Order records that report together, distinguished by the cart’s Source.
- Define order statuses, so warehouse, counter, and customer all see the same stage described the same way. See Set up order paths.
