POS setup scenarios and variations

On this page

A register does not have to be a fixed counter that customers queue at. You can run POS on a tablet carried down an aisle, on a screen a salesperson turns around, or at a check-in desk, and give each one only the screens that job needs.

The articles here are like recipes for how to use a combo of StoreConnect features to set up POS to meet your business and staff needs.

  • Registers and outlets are the physical locations, tablets, tills, stations, etc. that a business location has.
  • POS Layouts and POS Layout Fields decide what a screen shows and in what form, as a list, record, form, or grid.
  • POS Views are Liquid templates, so a screen can show anything a browser can render and anything Salesforce holds.
  • POS Action Groups and POS Action Items decide what the buttons do, including opening a custom view or calling another system.
