Setting up StoreConnect emails

On this page

Use this process to set the email address your store sends from, so order confirmations, shipping notifications, and customer account emails come from your own address rather than the sync user’s. StoreConnect uses Salesforce’s Organization-Wide Addresses feature for this.

Before you begin

  • You need Salesforce administrator permissions to create an Organization-Wide Address.
  • Decide which address the store sends from, and make sure you can receive mail at it. You have to click a verification link sent to that address.
  • Your sending domain must be verified in Salesforce, using either an active DKIM key or a verified Authorized Email Domain. Salesforce requires this for outbound email deliverability. See Salesforce’s email requirements.

:::warning Verify the Organization-Wide Address before you point a store at it. If the address is unverified, any checkout step or order status change that triggers an email fails with an error, and Salesforce may roll back the field change along with it. The order is then left in the wrong state. :::

Set the store’s sending address

  1. Create an Organization-Wide Address for your chosen email address, and assign it to the System Administrator profile, or to the profile your StoreConnect sync user runs under.
  2. Check that address’s inbox for the Salesforce verification email and follow the link. Do not continue until the address shows as verified.
  3. Go to the Stores list and open the store you are setting up.
  4. Enter the verified address in the Mail From Address field.
  5. Save the record.
  6. Confirm it works: place a test order on the store and check the confirmation email arrives from your chosen address, not the sync user’s.

Until you set Mail From Address, customers receive emails from your StoreConnect integration user’s address, and replies may not reach you.

Customer account emails

Customers can create an account on your store to track an order and see their order history. StoreConnect sends a confirmation email when they register, and a reset password email if they have trouble signing in.

StoreConnect ships default templates for these. To use your own instead, replace the API Name with your template on the Transactional Email record. Your templates live in Setup > Classic Email Templates, in the StoreConnect folder.

Transactional emails

You can define when transactional emails (purchase confirmations, shipping notifications, etc.) are sent from StoreConnect and customize the default settings. See Transactional emails for more information.
