Media manager admin tasks (one-time only)

On this page

Do these two setup tasks once per Salesforce org, before anyone uses the media manager. Without the first, thumbnail previews are blocked; without the second, nobody can create or assign media tags. Both need a Salesforce admin.

Add third-party media URLs as trusted sites

The media manager uses Cloudinary to render thumbnail previews and process uploaded files. YouTube and Vimeo video previews are also supported. For these previews to display correctly, add these specific Content Security Policy (CSP) trusted URLs to your organization.

  1. Select the Setup gear icon and choose Setup.
  2. Search for and select Trusted Sites.
  3. Select New Trusted Site.
  4. Enter the images URL: https://res.cloudinary.com/
  5. Save and Activate.
  6. If you also use video media, repeat steps 3 to 5 for each of:
    1. YouTube: https://img.youtube.com/
    2. Vimeo: https://vumbnail.com/

Each URL you added now appears in the Trusted Sites list as active, and thumbnail previews render in the media manager.

Enable Salesforce topics to use media tags

Salesforce Topics must be enabled for the Media object before users can create or assign tags.

  1. Select the Setup gear icon and choose Setup.
  2. Search for and select Topics for Objects.
  3. Select Media from the object list.
  4. Select Enable Topics.
  5. Select the Name field. If your org uses Topics with Chatter, also select the additional fields that configuration requires.
  6. Save the settings.

Once Topics are enabled for the Media object, users can create and assign tags on media records.
